Making a Steady Cam!

Hi Everyone!!!In almost a week from now, we'll be making our first venture into the Videography side of wedding coverage with the help of our good friend, Robbie Bearden. So, we have everything ready to go ... but a steady-cam. Robbie will be doing the videography while we do the photography. So, what's a steady-cam? Basically, it is a counter-weight system to keep the video camera as steady as possible. You may have heard the term before - most professionals use a steady-cam of some sort. There is a company that professional makes steady-cams, though these start around $4000 and go up from there. As this is our first venture, and we're waiting to see how it goes, we're going to hold off on the $4000 investment and make the good ole' $40 investment instead.Steady-CamWe'll see if I can look as serious as this guy here once it is finished. :) No, really though, this design looks 1/2 decent and works very well. It obviously won't work as well as the $4000+ setups, but it will work very well. Go to Steadycam-Pro to see more about Steady-Cams - click on the Full Features link to see photographs of the setup.Right now, we just have a bunch of pieces of plubming. Soon, we'll have a finished steady-cam! I'll post photographs as we build it (tomorrow). After this project, on to our Photobooth. We're about ready to begin the build. This photobooth will be one-of-a-kind and look very nice too! (Much nicer than the steady-cam) Really, for the looks - think old phonebooth meets new photobooth. I can't wait to share what we've come up with!- Spencer ClarkAnna and Spencer Photography
