Speaking: February 17th, 2011

Hi Everyone!!We'll be speaking & leading a hands-on shooting workshop on off-camera lighting on February 17th! This is the second part of the two-part series. We spoke last month with great success - really & truly - originally we expected 30 or so individuals to come, and we ended up with over 60!!! We really appreciated the RSVP's last month; so, please RSVP for this month as well. It'll help us have the correct amount of stations prepared for everyone to use.Rupa with the Atlanta SmugMug has made the official announcement - please head over to the Atlanta SmugMug Meetup Page & RSVP if you are attending (last minute attendees/additions are welcome). This upcoming meeting we'll be covering off-camera advanced lighting techniques.  It is going to be amazing. Here's how it'll work: First, we are going to do a presentation with live shooting (the image taken on the spot will appear overhead from the projector). This will allow us to explain what we're doing, how we are doing it, and why we would do it this way. Seriously, we can't be more thrilled about this as it is, by far, going to be one of the best ways to present this material. Secondly, after the initial explanation & presentation portion, everyone will have a chance to use three (or more) different stations with different lighting. You'll walk up, plug in your camera to the lightning, and go! We will do our best to have models at each station (if you know any models that would like to attend, please have them contact us). This will be an amazing experience that you won't want to miss. We can't wait to see you there! The official writeup:

This session is all about off-camera lighting. We'll be building off of the information presented for the previous presentation (on-camera lighting) to go as advanced as possible. We'll be covering off-camera lighting & different types of diffusion options (softbox, umbrellas, and more) through the use of a live demonstration. During the demonstration, we'll go into depth on what we are using, why we are using it, where it could be used, and what exactly it is doing. It will be something to see! After the demonstration, we will transition over to a hands-on portion of the evening.During this time, we'll have several stations setup with different types of off-camera lighting setups. You'll be able to experience the different setups yourself and see the difference first-hand. This will give everyone a firm grasp of the techniques presented & the time to use a variety of lighting techniques. So, bring your camera and be ready to learn and have a good time!
