Anna and Spencer Portfolio Photograph #5

It is somewhat of a rare opportunity when a wedding location has a great place to hang a dress. One of the challenges for finding a unique setting for a gown includes the lack of a hanging device (aka a windowsill, tasteful book case, etc. ...) Sometimes, there may be great surroundings available, but it may be a bit of a hike over to the chapel or outside to take advantage of the natural sun light. I like to be able to get a photograph of the dress for the bride, but at the same time, I don't want it to be missing from the dressing room too long.In this instance, the setting for this dress was actually in the room where Lauren was getting ready. The beautiful blue light filtering in behind the dress was natural light from a window behind the frosted glass wall. I took advantage of the dynamic light by metering off the background, and then filling in the dress with a little indirect flash. The folds, layers, and sheen of this dress really picked up the light. I love the play of light and shadow across the dress as well.-Anna
