February 20, 2008 Lunar Eclipse Photographs

We took these photographs just a few minutes ago of the lunar eclipse. The lunar eclipse started at 8:46/8:48PM, will peak at 10:26PMand then will end at 12:09AM.We won't be staying up for the 12:09AM portion, but we did want to see the eclipseand capture a few photographs. Enjoy! This is our first shot of the lunar eclipse.Lunar Eclipse - February 20 2008 Photograph - Image 0001Here's a crop of the lunar eclipse. We don't quite have the lens that would be goodfor the lunar eclipse - a 400mm+ lens would be good to use. So, we used our 70-200 2.8L ISto photograph the lunar eclipse and then cropped in this image.Lunar Eclipse - February 20 2008 Photograph - Image 0002Lunar Eclipse - February 20 2008 Photograph - Image 0003Lunar Eclipse - February 20 2008 Photograph - Image 0004Lunar Eclipse - February 20 2008 Photograph - Image 0005A little time has passed here - you can see the shadow has shifted on the moon.Lunar Eclipse - February 20 2008 Photograph - Image 0006Here's another crop of the lunar eclipse. This one turned out pretty well.Lunar Eclipse - February 20 2008 Photograph - Image 0010We started playing with the shutter speed with the lunar eclipse - this imageresulted from one of the shots. What you're seeing is lens flare. We had a good time taking photographs of the Lunar Eclipse. You should still be able to go outside and watch it (right now, it is 9:54PM).Lunar Eclipse - February 20 2008 Photograph - InspirationAnna and Spencer Photography
