February 20, 2008 Lunar Eclipse Photographs
We took these photographs just a few minutes ago of the lunar eclipse. The lunar eclipse started at 8:46/8:48PM, will peak at 10:26PMand then will end at 12:09AM.We won't be staying up for the 12:09AM portion, but we did want to see the eclipseand capture a few photographs. Enjoy! This is our first shot of the lunar eclipse. Here's a crop of the lunar eclipse. We don't quite have the lens that would be goodfor the lunar eclipse - a 400mm+ lens would be good to use. So, we used our 70-200 2.8L ISto photograph the lunar eclipse and then cropped in this image.A little time has passed here - you can see the shadow has shifted on the moon. Here's another crop of the lunar eclipse. This one turned out pretty well.We started playing with the shutter speed with the lunar eclipse - this imageresulted from one of the shots. What you're seeing is lens flare. We had a good time taking photographs of the Lunar Eclipse. You should still be able to go outside and watch it (right now, it is 9:54PM).Anna and Spencer Photography
