Shaila and Alex’s Wedding | June 20, 2009 | Sapelo Island, Ga

Hi Everyone!!So, we have to say, Shaila and Alex's wedding was absolutely great - from the location down to the smallest details. They were married on Sapelo Island, Ga this past Saturday. Sapelo Island is little known island located about an hour south of Savannah and about an hour north of St. Simons Island. Overall, it was a wonderful day Anna and I were happy to be able to document.

Enjoy the slideshow and photographs! If you'd like to be notified as soon as all of the photographs are available on Pictage to view, purchase, and print, please sign up at http://www.pictage.com/606601.

(Note, we're waiting to hear from Christabel and the Jons, the really great band that played at Alex and Shaila's wedding, to use their music in the slideshow below. Until then, we've decided to use Shane Cooley's piece Dreams and Aspirations)

The doors at the mansion on Sapelo Island are quite unique. In this shot, Anna placed two of the tables markers (more on these later).

Shaila and Alex hand-made their invitations and cut-out silhouettes (did we mention Alex is an artist?) - they were gorgeous. They then used the silhouette cut-outs from the invitations as table markers during their wedding day.

A quick photograph of one of the table markers.

Now, these were something to take in as well - hand-beaded floral arrangements. Shaila, Alex, and their friends hand-beaded all of the floral arrangements for the centerpieces.

This is just before the ceremony - Alex is already in place waiting on Shaila. Everyone here is walking out in order for the processional.

We LOVE this shot (and many others from their ceremony). This shot was taken with the 85 1.2L at f1.2. I love that Shaila, Alex, and only one piece of Spanish Moss is in focus.

The spanish moss on Sapelo Island is gorgeous.

Ah, here, this shot above was taken with the off-camera camera, or more precisely called the wirelessly triggered camera. I set it up earlier in the day at a location I knew we wouldn't be able to reach during the ceremony - directly behind them across the water feature. The green at the bottom of the screen is from the small palm tree it's hidden in.

Again, one of our favorites.

This was a pretty fun shot. We really wanted to show the ambiance of the reception. This was shot from the balcony above with a very slow shutter speed in order to really capture the mood of Alex and Shaila's reception.

For the first dance, all of the lights were turned off and only candlelight (from the candles at the reception dinner) lit the room. This shot was taken using the wirelessly triggered camera on a tripod. We love how you can see guests expressions in the background and the slight motion blur on Shaila and Alex during their dance.

Later during their first dance, we did start to use a bit of flash (as planned). I just love this shot.

Shaila and Alex's Reception on Sapelo Island

This was one of the last photograph captured before our night ended at Shaila and Alex's wedding. It's just a wonderful moment.
